IT student worker with profound knowledge of ML, ESG Reporting at Department of Computer Science at the Machine Learning Section

The Department of Computer Science at The Science Faculty, University of Copenhagen is looking for one or two IT Student workers from September/October 2025 to December 2026.

We’re looking for candidates with experience or interest in machine learning and computer vision, and who has worked with industry on tasks related to ESG reporting. A strong programming background is expected, especially in Python, along with solid experience using deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or JAX. An interest in Earth Observation and Remote Sensing is a welcome bonus.

About us

At The Department of Computer Science and the section of Machine Learning the activities range from research into the theoretical foundations of machine learning to applications within a broad set of domains, including information retrieval, medical data analysis, remote sensing, sustainability, and modelling of biological data. We participate in the SCIENCE AI Centre at the University of Copenhagen. The Machine Learning Section is also a part of the AI Denmark project to which this position will be working on.

Tasks

The IT workers will work on a range of tasks, from developing dynamic ESG reporting tools using activity data to tackling broader machine learning challenges, particularly around building efficient and scalable models.

Your task will include:

  • Working with industry in solving tasks related to ESG reporting
  • Working with Industry to see how Ai can help them improve their business

We offer

We offer an opportunity to using your skills to work on real industry projects and being a part of the Ai Denmark community. You will be seated at the Machine Learning section with a lot of really talented researchers. As part of the Ai Denmark project you get to influence what kind of projects you want to work on, but sometimes projects pivot and you also get a chance to be a part of a team, that will handle that.

Terms of salary and employment

The employment is made in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation, The Confederation of Teachers Unions and CO10 – The Danish confederation of public employees of 2010 (LC/CO10 Collective Agreement) and by the Professional Agreement for IT Staff (PROSA) in government service.

Employment will be as IT Officer. The salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working hours are 10-15 hours per week, to be agreed with the selected candidate. The working hours are flexible.
