Talentprogram for studerende

DIGNITY’s Talent Programme for students - Spring 2027

About the Talent Programme

DIGNITY’s Talent Programme is specifically designed for ambitious students in the master’s phase of their education who are seeking an internship opportunity as part of their academic program or planning to write a master’s thesis on torture or related topics. The Programme offers an inspiring and intensive environment at the intersection of theory and practice.

The Talent Programme follows the academic year, and DIGNITY is opening the call for applications for the Spring semester starting on 1 February 2027.

As participant, you will have the opportunity to develop and contribute to knowledge production and the creation of a better world together with other participants in the programme and under the qualified supervision of experienced DIGNITY staff.

DIGNITY emphasises approaches to understanding and addressing the complex challenges of torture prevention and rehabilitation. A central element of the Talent Programme is learning from colleagues with diverse professional backgrounds.

Key areas of work

Collaboration is possible within the following key areas:

  1. Prevention and documentation of torture, including health aspects and prison health
  2. Human rights, justice and advocacy
  3. Trauma, mental health and rehabilitation – including PTSD, MHPSS, clinical research and intervention development
  4. Quantitative research, biostatistics and data science – including register studies and large datasets
  5. Public health and violence prevention, including both quantitative and qualitative approaches
  6. Global mental health and psychosocial programming in LMICs and populations affected by violence and adversity
  7. Migration, refugees, displacement and detention
  8. Conflict, repression, and transition – including climate change, social movements and local approaches justice and accountability
  9. Monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEAL) – including data analysis and visualization

In the application form you will be asked to specify which key area(s) you are interested in.

As an applicant you must:

  • be enrolled in an academic programme with an internship component or plan to write a thesis within one of DIGNITY’s key areas of work (listed above)
  • have strong English language skills, as DIGNITY is a bilingual organisation (Danish and English), and as the Talent Programme typically includes both Danish and international students, and all joint meetings are conducted in English.

Framework for Master’s thesis students and interns

Writing a thesis in collaboration with DIGNITY allows you to work academically with issues related to the causes, consequences or contexts of torture and violence and receive qualified co-supervision.

  • Thesis positions are open for 4–5 months. You will work on your thesis with co-supervision from a relevant and qualified DIGNITY staff member in addition to your primary supervisor at your university.
  • An internship in one of our departments of either International Programmes, National Rehabilitation or Prevention & Accountability provides a unique opportunity to engage with and learn about human rights, torture rehabilitation and torture prevention in practice.

The Talent Programme is an educational programme and is therefore unpaid, regardless of whether you are an intern or a thesis student. DIGNITY does not reimburse general expenses incurred during the programme. Participants are therefore responsible for all expenses, such as transportation, insurance, housing and living costs.
