Are you excited about renewable energy and creating new business opportunities for Danish companies in the U.S. and Canada? Do you want to boost Danish companies export efforts and assist their North American business development projects?

 

The Trade Councils Wind Energy Advisory (WEA) in North America is looking for a highly motivated and qualified intern to assist Danish wind energy companies on the U.S. and Canadian markets. WEA supports and consults Danish onshore and offshore wind companies and manufacturers wanting to establish and/or expand their North American activities. To do so, WEA assists with strategic analysis, planning, business development, export promotion, sales, and corporate establishment. Through close collaboration with our colleagues in Washington D.C., Houston, Silicon Valley and Toronto, we cover the North American wind energy market.

 

The internship is 6 months from August 1, 2019 January 31, 2020.

 

The Position

Through an internship at the Consulate General in Chicago, you will be an integrated part of WEAs daily work and support the collaboration between U.S. and Canadian market activities. You will be linked to one of our industry specialists, and gain valuable knowledge in the work of Danish exports within the wind energy sector from day one. As an intern, you will be included as an important contributor on relevant projects, and will achieve a deep understanding of the market and industry conditions on the North American market.

 

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to,

 

  • Supporting market analysis

  • Data collection

  • Connection with Danish and American companies within the public and private sectors

  • Supporting business development projects

  • Administrative tasks, which also include helping out with our daily routines

 

 

The Candidate

You will be hired as a part of the Trade Department at the Danish Consulate General in Chicago, and be included in the Consulate Generals staff team consisting of 14 employees.

 

You are enrolled at a higher educational institution focusing on business, economics, or the like. Fluency in English (oral and written) is required. Comfortable office package (PowerPoint, Excel & Word) skills are expected.

 

The candidate should possess an independent drive along with a positive attitude when engaging in new tasks. The ideal candidate should have a high level of personal integrity and creativity while possessing curiosity and drive. Being open, credible and observant are important personal characteristics. As the workplace will fluctuate and increase, the candidate should be able to maintain a clear perspective and focus in stressful situations.

 

Interns are responsible for own expenses, i.e. plane tickets and renting of rooms or apartments. The Consulate General of Denmark in Chicago provides 4.000 DKK/month towards documented rental costs.
